George Weyman, the inventor of Copenhagen tobaccos, opened his shop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the 1820s. In 1845 Weyman's tobacco shop was one of a few businesses to survive a large Pittsburgh Fire. Nearly twenty years later, George Weyman relinquished control of the shop to William and Benjamin Weyman, his sons. Following the father's death in 1870, William and Benjamin adopted officially the name Weyman & Bros. Copenhagen tobaccos are now manufactured by the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company.
